Prayagraj: On Wednesday, the Special Task Force (STF) Prayagraj unit arrested two marijuana smugglers and seized contraband worth Rs. 14 lakh concealed within a custom-made cavity in their automobile.
The people who were arrested were caught in the Meja district of the trans-Yamuna section of the district while transporting marijuana from Orissa to Varanasi. According to STF officials, a FIR has been filed at the Meja police station against the pair.
According to DSP Navendu Kumar, the STF squad stopped a car near the Meja trisection on Wednesday after receiving a tip. Following the discovery of 55 kilogrammes of marijuana hidden inside a specifically constructed compartment in the car, two occupants were arrested.
The marijuana that was seized is worth an estimated $14 lakh. Shambhu Kumar Yadav and Saheb Singh, residents of the Bihar district of Buxar, were named as the arrested individuals.
Marijuana was supposed to be delivered to the gang’s boss
When the two were questioned, it was discovered that they had purchased marijuana from Aadi Dada in the Orissan area of Koraput. The marijuana was supposed to be delivered to the gang’s boss, Sudhir Singh, in Varanasi. When they smuggled marijuana, Shambhu and Saheb Singh used to receive $2000 each time. The ringleader, Sudhir Singh, is wanted in connection with a case that was filed in Mirzapur in October of this year.
