The Culture and Religion Secretary, Harichandra Semwal, has issued directives to the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions for a grand cultural celebration spanning nine days, starting from the auspicious occasion of Uttrayani on January 14. This initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, fostering cultural vibrancy and community engagement.
Key Highlights:
- Dates of Celebration: The cultural festival will commence on January 14, marking Uttrayani, and continue until January 22. The festivities will extend from the traditional Uttrayani celebrations to the consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram idol in Ayodhya.
- People’s Participation: Various events, including Kalash Yatra (procession with sacred pots), will involve the active participation of people at the district and block levels. Women and youth groups, self-help organizations, and the general public will join hands to make the celebrations inclusive and vibrant.
Special Focus on Cleanliness Campaign:
A dedicated cleanliness campaign will be conducted during the festival. This campaign will bring together urban bodies, district panchayats, gram panchayats, social organizations, self-help groups, women’s groups, and youth groups. Additionally, temples and ghats will witness activities such as the Festival of Lights (Deepotsav), religious hymns, recitation of Ramcharitmanas, and devotional singing.
This cultural extravaganza aims to blend traditional celebrations with community engagement, reinforcing the cultural identity of Uttarakhand and fostering a spirit of unity and cleanliness among its residents.
