Lucknow is set to witness significant changes, with proposed renamings and commemorations in the city. Here’s a breakdown of the key proposals:
1. Gomtinagar Railway Station:
- The station is slated to be renamed after the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The proposal, approved by the Mayor on December 2, is awaiting confirmation in the Municipal Corporation Executive meeting on December 15.
2. Intersection Namings:
- The intersection in front of Radhakrishna Marriage Hall in F Block of Kunwar Jyoti Prasad Ward, Rajajipuram, is to be named after Pragyan Rover (Chandrayaan-3).
- Hussainganj intersection is set to be renamed after Maharana Pratap.
- The flyover from Lalkuan to Naka intersection will bear the name of Guru Gobind Singh.
- The road from DP Srivastava’s house to Sulabh office in Aliganj Sector-C Alkapuri will be dedicated to Dr. Bindeshwari Pathak.
3. Statues and Gates:
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue is scheduled for installation near the park of Aminabad Inter College.
- A gate will be constructed in honor of Khatibe Akbar Maulana Athar Saheb in Kashmiri Mohalla.
- The statue of martyr Major Durgamall will be erected in Kharika.
- Captain Ram Singh Thakuri’s statue will find a place at Mahanagar Gol Market intersection.
- Amar Shaheed Ahmed Ullah Shah Gate is planned for construction near Rickmi Laundry in Maulviganj Ward.
4. Additional Construction:
- Addressing the absence of women’s facilities, a new women’s toilet is proposed for construction in Nakhas Bazaar.
These proposals, aimed at honoring individuals and events significant to the community, will be presented for approval in the Municipal Corporation Executive meeting on December 15.
