Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has got a big success in Umesh Pal shootout case. The team has detained the accused of sheltering the shooters of Umesh Pal, the main witness of the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case. According to police sources, Qayyum Ansari has been detained on charges of providing car and accommodation to Asad and Mohammad Ghulam.
Helped to cross the border of Nepal
According to the information received, Qayyum Ansari had helped a lot in getting Asad, Muslim Guddu, Sabir and Armaan, son of Mafia Atiq Ahmed, to cross the border of Nepal. The STF arrested Qayyum Ansari, a close aide of Atiq, on Thursday late evening. At present, the interrogation of the accused is going on. Police sources said Qayyum Ansari has underworld connections, and was earlier questioned by the STF in connection with other cases.
Umesh Pal was on Atiq’s target for the last four years
As per report, Umesh Pal was on the target of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed for the past four years. Sources said that he knew that the killing of Umesh Pal would create an uproar. On the other hand, officials said that meanwhile, a person wanted in several criminal cases and said to be close to Atiq Ahmed was arrested after an encounter with the police in Matoundh area of Banda on Thursday.
The man, identified as Waheed Ahmed, received bullet injuries and was admitted to a hospital, he said. Superintendent of Police Abhinandan said that a joint team of Mataund police station and Special Operations Group tried to nab Waheed Ahmed near Bhuragarh, but he opened fire on the police.
He was injured in the retaliatory firing and was later arrested, the police officer said. Waheed Ahmed is Arbaaz’s uncle, who worked as a shooter for Atiq Ahmed and was killed in an encounter with the police in Prayagraj.
According to the police, Arbaz was one of the alleged shooters in Umesh Pal’s murder.
Waheed Ahmed has several cases of murder and extortion registered against him.
Police said they are probing whether Waheed Ahmed had any role in Pal’s murder. The SP said that Waheed Ahmed is a resident of Mardan Naka locality of Banda district, and is said to be close to Atiq Ahmed. Abhinandan said that several cases of murder and extortion were registered against him and there was a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest. Police said that a few days back, Waheed Ahmed had threatened a local businessman and demanded extortion.
