he All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) declared on Friday that it would not be running in the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. Shaukat Ali, the state president of AIMIM, announced that the party would not run a candidate in the by-elections for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat or the Khatauli and Rampur assembly seats.
Lok Sabha seat in Mainpuri
Notably, Mulayam Singh Yadav, a supporter of the Samajwadi Party (SP), passed away, leaving the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh empty. Later, the Samajwadi party put Dimple Yadav, the former MP, and wife of the party’s leader Akhilesh Yadav, up as a candidate for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. It is important to remember that Mainpuri is regarded as a Samajwadi Party stronghold.
Seat of Khatauli
After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vikram Singh Saini was declared ineligible due to his recent conviction in a case involving the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, the Khatauli seat in Uttar Pradesh became vacant on Monday, November 7. On October 11, a special MP/MLA court convicted Saini and 11 other defendants in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case to two years in prison.

Rampur in UP
After Samajwadi Party MLA Azam Khan was disqualified due to his three-year prison sentence in a hate speech case last month, the seat in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, became vacant.
According to the official announcement made by the Election Commission of India (ECI), voting will begin for the by-elections on December 5 and results will be announced for the Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh on December 8.
Notably, while the date of nomination is November 18, the deadline for candidates to submit their nominations is November 17. The deadline to withdraw from consideration is November 21.
