UP cop in trouble after wife, children take selfie with bundles of Rs 500 notes

A police officer in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, got an immediate transfer as a result of a selfie his family took with wads of cash. After a selfie of the cop’s wife and children posing with bundles of Rs 500 bills went popular on social media, an investigation into the officer was opened.

The family of the police officer can be seen in the picture, which is currently going viral on social media, sitting on a bed with a large stack of cash worth Rs 14 lakh.

A senior police official launched an investigation into the incident as soon as the image of the cop holding bundles of notes went viral. Ramesh Chandra Sahani, the station’s in charge, has been moved to the police division.


However, Ramesh Chandra Sahani has defended himself and said that the photograph was taken on November 14, 2021, when he sold a family property.

A senior police officer, giving details of the incident said, “A photograph of a station-house officer is going viral on social media. It shows the cop’s wife and his children with bundles of notes. We have taken cognizance of the matter and the cop has been transferred to police line. An investigation has been launched.”
