In a bid to alleviate the challenges faced by destitute and vulnerable individuals during the cold wave, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the distribution of high-quality blankets. The Yogi government has released the first installment of Rs 20 crore from the allocated Rs 120 crore budget for temporary accommodation, food, clothing, and medical facilities to aid those affected by the cold wave. The relief funds will be utilized to assist destitute persons, refugees, and individuals impacted by the harsh winter conditions. District Magistrates across the state have received instructions to ensure concrete arrangements and efficient utilization of the allocated funds.
District-Wise Allocations and Instructions for Cold Wave Relief
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen highlighted that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is committed to supporting the weaker sections of the state, implementing various welfare schemes. In response to the cold wave, the government has released the first installment, amounting to approximately Rs 20 crore, to District Magistrates for the procurement of blankets and other relief materials. Ghazipur, Bulandshahr, Gorakhpur, Sitapur, and Lakhimpur Kheri have received the highest allocations, with Rs 38 lakh 50 thousand disbursed to these districts. The authorities have been directed to conduct field visits, identify vulnerable individuals, and ensure the prevention of cold-related fatalities.
Ensuring Adequate Shelter and Safety Measures
To address the cold wave effectively, local authorities, including District Magistrates, Chief Development Officers, Sub-District Magistrates, and Tehsildars, have been instructed to proactively identify and support destitute and vulnerable individuals in their respective areas. The directive emphasizes the importance of preventing cold-related deaths and underscores the need for bonfires at public places, Nagar Panchayats, Municipal Corporations, and rural areas. Additionally, administrators are required to display their names and mobile numbers at shelter homes to enhance communication and coordination.
