UP News: In a potentially dangerous situation, a goods train traveling from Kanpur towards Prayagraj was forced to make an emergency stop after the driver spotted a gas cylinder on the tracks. The incident took place at Prempur Station at around 5:50 am today (September 22), according to a statement from the Central Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway.
Following the alert, railway personnel, including the Inspector of Work (IOW), security teams, and other railway officials, rushed to the location to examine the scene. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the 5-litre gas cylinder was empty, and it was safely removed from the tracks.
Safety Measures Taken Immediately
The timely action by the driver and railway teams helped prevent a potential accident. While no immediate danger was posed due to the empty cylinder, authorities stressed the seriousness of the matter. Security personnel were instructed to enhance surveillance in the area and ensure the safety of passengers and trains passing through.
Investigation Ordered to Determine Cause
The presence of the gas cylinder on the railway tracks has raised concerns about possible sabotage or negligence. Directions have been issued to conduct a thorough investigation to determine how the cylinder ended up on the tracks and to identify any responsible parties. Railway officials assured that the investigation would be swift and security measures tightened across the region to prevent such incidents in the future.
