UP News: The government of Uttar Pradesh is actively preparing for the establishment of solar plants across a 1700-hectare stretch along the Bundelkhand Expressway, envisioning it as the state’s inaugural solar expressway capable of generating 550 MW of solar power.
The primary objective is to provide electricity to around one lakh residences situated along the expressway. The project’s anticipated lifespan is 25 years, and the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), a state entity, will spearhead its execution. The Due Diligence Study has been successfully concluded, and the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage, finalized in August 2023, marks a significant milestone.
In the recent past, eight prominent solar power developers, including Tusco Ltd, Torrent Power Ltd, Somaya Solar Solutions Pvt Ltd, 3R Management Ltd, Avaada Energy Ltd, Atria Brindavan Power Ltd, Erisha E Mobility, and Mahapreit, delivered presentations to government authorities. These companies are vital players in advancing the solar initiative.
The Bundelkhand Expressway, spanning 296 km with four lanes, comprises the main carriageway and a service lane. The vacant strip of land, approximately 15 to 20 meters wide, between these two sections will be utilized for the solar project. The plan involves covering this area with solar panels, effectively segregating agricultural land and installing fencing to optimize energy production.
This ambitious venture signifies a substantial stride toward sustainable energy in Uttar Pradesh, aligning with global efforts to harness clean and renewable resources for power generation.
