UP News– In a significant crackdown, the Kushinagar police have dismantled a gang involved in the circulation of fake currency notes, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals. Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Mishra announced that over 5.6 lakh in counterfeit currency, including Nepalese notes, were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
In addition to the fake currency, law enforcement seized 10 country-made pistols, 30 live bullets, and four “Sutli Bombs” (firecrackers) during the operation. Mishra indicated that the investigation has uncovered potential political connections to the gang, but assured that action has been taken against those directly involved in the crime.
Criminal History and Further Investigations
The arrested individuals reportedly have a criminal history, which raises concerns about the extent of their operations in the region. Police are committed to pursuing additional suspects linked to this case and are investigating any potential networks that may facilitate the production and distribution of counterfeit currency.
SP Mishra emphasized that the police will continue to monitor and address such criminal activities aggressively. “We have received information regarding political affiliations in this case, and we will not hesitate to take action against all involved parties,” he stated. The police department aims to restore public confidence and ensure that such illegal activities are effectively curtailed in the district.
