UP News: The Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh introduced new regulations for food shops, including dhabas, hotels, and restaurants, throughout the state in an effort to protect public health and safety. The Chief Minister has called for stricter enforcement after disturbing events in which dangerous substances were found contaminating food.
Owners and Managers’ Names to Be Displayed Prominently
To improve accountability and transparency in food businesses, the Yogi Government has made it mandatory for all eateries, including roadside dhabas, restaurants, and hotels, to prominently display the names and addresses of the owner, manager, and operator. This move aims to make it easier to trace responsibility in case of any food safety violations or contamination complaints. Clear visibility of the management information will ensure that the public knows exactly who is responsible for the food they consume.
Mandatory Installation of CCTV Cameras in All Food Establishments
The Chief Minister has also stressed the importance of technology in maintaining food safety standards. Under the new rules, it is compulsory for food establishments to install CCTV cameras not only in customer seating areas but in kitchens and other parts of the establishment as well. The footage from these cameras must be stored and readily available for inspection by local authorities or the police. This measure ensures transparency and makes it easier to monitor the hygiene and behavior of food handlers and staff.
Stringent Action Against Contamination of Food
The Yogi Government has decided to implement a zero-tolerance policy in response to several concerning incidences that have purportedly occurred across the nation where materials such as human waste have been incorporated into food items. Any business found guilty of such atrocious activities will be subject to the severe legal penalties, according to the Chief Minister. He voiced his outrage at these acts, describing them as terrible and intolerable. Inspections for food safety will now be carried out more thoroughly, and offenders will face severe consequences.
Amendments to Food Safety Rules on the Horizon
To ensure that public health is never compromised, the government plans to introduce amendments to the Food Safety and Standards Act if necessary. These changes will tighten the rules around food production, serving, and cleanliness. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of practical yet strict guidelines to ensure that every food establishment meets the highest safety standards.
Employee Verification and Hygiene Standards
In another major move, every employee working at a dhaba, restaurant, or hotel in Uttar Pradesh will now undergo mandatory police verification. This measure ensures that only trustworthy individuals are involved in food handling and preparation. Additionally, the government has made it mandatory for staff—whether they are chefs, waiters, or cleaners—to wear gloves and masks at all times while preparing and serving food. Cleanliness and hygiene are now non-negotiable, and food establishments must ensure that they strictly follow these rules.
Joint Inspections to Ensure Compliance
The government has planned a statewide inspection campaign to enforce these new regulations. Joint teams from the Food Safety and Drug Administration, police, and local administration will visit and verify every food establishment, ensuring that they adhere to the new rules. Any violations will result in immediate action, including fines, license suspensions, or closures of the establishments involved.
Cleanliness and Public Health Are the Top Priorities
CM Yogi Adityanath stated clearly that risks to the public’s health cannot be tolerated. The administration hopes to totally eliminate any chance of food contamination and uphold strict cleanliness regulations throughout the entire state with these new initiatives. Severe penalties will be imposed for any attempt to compromise public health by contaminating food.
