UP schools to start Facial recognition way to mark attendance

Face Recognition Technology (FRT) will now be used in many private schools of UP for the attendance of teachers and students. It has already been started in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs).

Proxy of teachers and children will end

Vijay Kiran Anand, director general of school education, told Business Insider, “The purpose of face recognition technology (FRT) is to eliminate proxies for teachers and children.”

FRT will be connected to mobile

For FRT, 10 digit mobile numbers of school teachers and children are entered. The PIN has been sent to all the registered mobile numbers. Using this PIN, face recognition of KGBV school children will be done, and attendance will be set.

FRT attendance in 702 KGBV schools

This facility will be given for six lakh teachers and 1.92 crore students in government schools from class 1 to 8 in UP. There are a total of 746 KGBVS schools in UP. There are about 80,000 students in these schools. Presently face recognition technology is present in 702 KGBV schools.
