UP Weather Update: The weather in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) is experiencing a sudden shift with the onset of cold and the looming threat of dust storms. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings for dust storms and smog, and several areas in U.P. have received yellow alerts. This change is primarily attributed to an active western disturbance affecting Haryana and Punjab, which is expected to impact U.P.’s weather as well.
Situation in cities:
In some cities, including Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Vrindavan, and nearby regions, light rain has already been witnessed on Thursday, and there are forecasts for more rain and dust storms on Friday. The situation is similar in Western U.P., covering places like Ghaziabad, Noida, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Hapur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hathras, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Sambhal, Badaun, and their surroundings.
Leading to increase in pollution levels:
The presence of dust storms in all these areas may lead to increased pollution levels. Additionally, the expected rain will bring about a noticeable drop in temperatures. The current temperatures have been relatively cool during the mornings and nights, and the onset of rain is likely to further enhance the perception of cold during the day. Maximum temperatures in U.P. have been around 30 degrees, with minimum temperatures recording around 18 degrees. This shift is making for chilly nights and foggy mornings in many cities.
