The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested six individuals on Sunday for their alleged involvement in leaking a question paper for the posts of review officers and assistant review officers earlier this year. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exam, held across the state on February 11, was canceled on March 2 following allegations of a paper leak.
Arrested Individuals and Locations
Those arrested include Sunil Raghuvanshi, a printing press worker from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh; Subhash Prakash from Madhubani, Bihar; Vishal Dubey and Sandeep Pandey from Prayagraj; Amarjeet Sharma from Gaya, Bihar; and Vivek Upadhyay from Ballia. The arrests were made in Prayagraj, according to the STF.
Details of the Modus Operandi
The STF’s investigation revealed that the exam paper was leaked from two primary sources: a printing press in Bhopal and an examination center in Prayagraj. The paper, which reached the examination center on February 11, was leaked before the exam commenced. This dual-source leak exposed a widespread conspiracy involving multiple individuals.
Key Figures and Previous Arrests
Rajiv Nayan Mishra, identified as the mastermind behind the paper leak, is already in jail. A woman, allegedly part of the gang, remains absconding. Ten other accused individuals, including Vineet Yashwant, the exam center administrator at Bishop Johnson Girls School in Prayagraj, are also in jail. On the morning of February 11, Kamlesh Kumar Pal, a member of the gang, leaked the paper by taking photos from his mobile phone with the assistance of Vineet Yashwant.
Background of the Accused
Further investigation revealed that Rajiv Nayan Mishra started residing in Bhopal, where the paper was leaked from the printing press. Mishra, along with Subhash Prakash, Vishal Dubey, and Sunil Raghuvanshi, studied engineering. Vishal Dubey and Sunil Raghuvanshi, a printing press employee, studied mechanical engineering together from 2014 to 2017. Subhash Prakash, after completing his engineering studies, began working at a private engineering college.
Government and STF Response
In light of these developments, the UP government has committed to enhancing security measures for the handling and distribution of exam papers to prevent future leaks. The STF continues its investigation to identify any additional culprits involved in the scheme, aiming to ensure the integrity of the examination process.
