Uttar Pradesh: From Rags to riches, Tale of a little beggar who turns out to be a Crorepati

Uttar Pradesh: It was discovered that the 10-year-old UP child who had been begging at the Piran Kaliyar shrine in Roorkee was actually a Crorepati, but not what you may expect.
Following the passing of his parents, Shahzeb Alam, a resident of Pandauli village in UP’s Saharanpur district, had gone missing more than a year ago.

Story of Shahzeb Alam’s family

Mohammad Naved, his father, passed away in 2019 from a long-term illness, but not before he split up with Imrana Begum, who chose to live with her parents and Shahzeb, according to TOI.
The woman and her lone kid eventually relocated to the Piran Kaliyar Sharif Dargah, a famed Sufi saint’s shrine, close to Roorkee. However, sorrow hit him once more in 2021 when Imrana passed away from Covid-19. Shahzeb, who was now an orphan, sought shelter in the temple because he had no one to take care of him. Since then, he had been residing there as a “beggar,” dependent on followers and donors.

From rags to riches

Little did the youngster realise that his grandfather Mohammad Yaqub, who passed away in 2021, would leave behind a legacy that would change his life.
He reportedly left his two-story home and five-bigha piece of land, which together are valued close to Rs 2 crore, to his late son Naved’s child, who was still missing at the time.
The family of Shahzeb in Saharanpur then started looking for the child and discovered just this past Wednesday that he had been residing in Roorkee in Uttarakhand.
