Uttar Pradesh Government Approves Over 100 Research Studies on Technology Applications

The approved research studies, with a combined expenditure of ₹14 crore, encompass a wide range of applications, including early throat cancer detection in tobacco users, posture correction for desk workers using AI and IoT-based systems, and the development of special wheelchairs for people with disabilities.

In a meeting held on October 5 in Lucknow, chaired by Narendra Bhooshan, Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology and Director General Council of Science and Technology, a total of 109 research proposals were granted approval, marking the highest number of such approvals in the state.

One notable project aims to address health issues caused by prolonged sitting among desk workers. Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) in Prayagraj will develop an AI, machine learning, and IoT-based real-time posture correction system to alert desk workers when their posture is incorrect.

Another project led by IIT-Kanpur focuses on the early detection of throat cancer in individuals who consume ‘paan’ and tobacco. This research will utilize AI and advanced endoscopic imaging to enable early diagnosis and treatment.

Additionally, the King George Medical University in Lucknow will work on developing a multi-parameter MRI model using machine learning. This model will aid in identifying, classifying, and diagnosing renal tumors.
