Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rain causes wall collapse in Lucknow, 9 people lose life

Uttar Pradesh:  After the alert of the Meteorological Department, it is raining in many areas of Uttar Pradesh. Rain killed 9 people in Lucknow. In fact, it has been raining heavily in Lucknow for the last 24 hours, due to which a wall collapsed and 9 people died after being buried under it. Rain has also caused waterlogging in many parts of the city. Some people were also injured when the wall collapsed and were taken to the Civil Hospital. However, the doctor told that they are all out of danger.

Orange alert issued in the city

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced Rs 4 lakh compensation for the dead and Rs 2 lakh for the injured. “Some laborers were living in huts outside an Army enclave in the Dilkusha. Due to heavy rain, the boundary wall of the Army enclave collapsed last night”. Joint Commissioner of Police Piyush Mordia said. An order for schools to be shut was issued at 4 am this morning after night of heavy rainfall. An orange category heavy rainfall alert has also been issues for several areas of the city as well.

Lucknow received almost as much rain in one day that it sees in a whole month. The capital of Uttar Pradesh recorded 155.2 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. According to the weather department, the average that Lucknow usually receives for the  whole month of September is approx. 211.5 mm.
