Uttar Pradesh: After being seen going with a guy by CCTV cameras in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, a girl mysteriously appeared bloodied and wounded next to a government guest home. After leaving her house on Sunday for several hours, the 13-year-old was found unconscious and covered in blood.
Although a medical report is still pending, the police have opened a rape investigation after receiving a complaint from her family.
A collection of videos give some insight of what happened on site when the girl was discovered.
In the worst of these videos, a number of males have gathered around the girl, photographing her on their phones while she lies on the ground in pain and appears to be reaching out for help with her blood-stained arms. Although there is no attempt to help the girl, people in the 25-second video speculate on whether the police have been notified.
Another video that went viral showed a policeman rushing to an autorickshaw while carrying the injured girl.
According to her uncle’s FIR, the teen left home on Sunday afternoon to buy a piggy bank and didn’t come home for five hours. A guard saw her hiding in the underbrush next to the guest house and called the police.\
“The minor girl was found in an injured condition and the local police rushed her to the hospital for treatment,” said Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh in a statement.
She suffered several injuries, including a critical head wound, and was unconscious. Her relatives stated that they believed she may have been the victim of sexual assault. The man who was spotted speaking to her on surveillance tape is investigated by the police. She was reportedly taken to the guest house by him.
