Varanasi lights up with 8 lakh lamps on Dev Deepawali

On the auspicious occasion of Dev Deepawali which was celebrated on Monday Varanasi and its ghats shone bright from the light of over 21 lakh diyas (earthern lamps).

Visitors from all across the nation and the world attend the festival, which is held on Kartik Purnima each year. According to district officials, 10 lakh lamps were utilised to decorate an 8-kilometer stretch of ghats, with the remaining lamps being used around the city.

A laser show and “eco-friendly” fireworks were scheduled for the occasion as part of attempts to make the event magnificent.

At the Dashashwamedh Ghat, local citizens honoured the nation’s soldiers while performing the Ganga arti. Six venues throughout the city received live broadcasts of the arti.

According to government officials, two lakh lamps were lit on the sands of the east bank, while eight lakh lamps were set on the 84 ghats of the west bank. The ghats and temples were both decked to commemorate the event.

In addition, there were lovely lamps adorning the area between Markandeya Mahadev Dham and the riverbank close to Shool Tankeshwar shrine. Shivpur Lake, Moti Jheel, Rameshwar Mahadev Temple in the Jansa area, Durgakund Temple, Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple Pond, Mandakini Kund in Maidagin, Sankuldhara Pokhra Surya Sarovar at Bareka, and Shastri Ghat along the Varuna River were among the other attractions that were decorated as part of the festivities.
