A murder case will be registered against the policemen in the case of Vipin Singh who was killed in an encounter in Shahpur area of Gorakhpur district. On the application of Vipin’s mother, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) has ordered registration of a case against the then CO Praveen Singh (currently posted in Varanasi), station in-charge Gularia Manoj Rai and other policemen and the property dealer, his accomplices.
According to the information, Vipin Singh, a resident of Padri Bazar of Shahpur police station area, was shot on June 9, 2020 in an encounter with the police in Jungle Chhatradhari of Pipraich. He died on the way to the medical college. Police officials had told that Vipin Singh along with his associates had come to kill property dealer Chhotu Prajapati and his associates.

When the police laid siege, he started running while firing. He died of a bullet fired in retaliation. Vipin Singh’s mother has written in the application in the CJM court that the team of Crime Branch and Gulriha police station, in connivance with property dealer Chhotu Prajapati, committed the murder under the plan. First he was sent to jail after being implicated in a false case.
After being released on bail, Vipin went to Jungle Chhatradhari village leaving his partner home by bike. On the way, Chhotu Prajapati saw him and surrounded him with his companions and started firing, in which two people were shot. Vipin, who fled to save his life, was surrounded and shot by the police and Chhotu Prajapati along with his companions. The CJM has ordered the Gulriha police station to investigate by registering a case of murder, attempt to murder against the accused.
Vipin was running away after shooting a 10-year-old child and a youth
In the encounter in which Vipin Singh was killed, the villagers helped the police. This was the first encounter after a long time, in which the police came face to face with the miscreants.
Actually, Vipin Singh had gone to kill the property dealer Chhotu Prajapati and when he did not meet, shot his friend’s brother Deepchad (35), a resident of Jungle Chhatradhari. While running, there was indiscriminate firing in which 10-year-old Aditya Sharma was also injured by the bullet. On the information of rapid firing, the police had reached the spot and laid siege with the help of the villagers.
According to information, crook Vipin Singh was a big name in the world of crime in the surrounding districts including Gorakhpur. He was also known for his style of shooting.
On June 11, 2020, history-sheeter Vipin Singh, a resident of Badhik Tola, Jungle Salikram of Shahpur area, was released from jail on bail during the lockdown. Since then, he was in the process of killing Chhotu and Arun, a property dealer resident of Jungle Chhatradhari of Pipraich area. He is said to have received information that Chhotu Prajapati and Arun were present at a feast.
From there Vipin Singh along with two friends reached Chhotu’s house. When he was not found at his house, he escaped while firing in the air and reached the house of his friend Arun Nishad, a resident of Shahganj. At that time Arun’s younger brother Deepchand was sitting outside the house. Vipin and his associates opened fire on him. He was injured by a bullet in his hand.
Meanwhile, the villagers made the miscreants run away. During the escape, the youths riding the car hit the bike of the miscreants, due to which they fell down and the three miscreants started running on foot while firing. During this, a ten year old child of Shahganj was also injured due to bullet injury. The villagers continued to chase the miscreants.
Meanwhile, the police of Crime Branch and Gulriha police station surrounded the miscreants near Nautan village. Vipin Singh was injured due to bullet injury in the stomach during the encounter, he was taken to the Medical College. From where the doctors referred him to KGMU, Lucknow. He was admitted to KGMU. Where he died the next morning.
