Yogi Adityanath Approves Ambitious Second Phase for Lucknow Metro

In a significant move, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given the go-ahead for the second phase of the Lucknow Metro project, specifically the East-West Corridor. This ambitious endeavor is estimated to cost ₹5,881 crore and is expected to enhance the city’s public transportation infrastructure significantly. The newly approved corridor, named Metro Phase-1B East-West Corridor, will stretch over 11.165 kilometers from Charbagh to Vasantkunj.

Project Details and Timeline

The East-West Corridor’s development plan outlines a comprehensive 11.165-kilometer stretch, comprising both elevated and underground sections. The project is anticipated to be completed within a span of five years, featuring 12 stations in total. Out of these, seven stations will be underground, while the remaining five will be elevated. This phase is a crucial expansion that aims to address the city’s growing urban mobility needs effectively.

Next Steps and Approval Process

Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s approval, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase 2 is set to be swiftly released. The proposal will then be submitted to the Union urban development and housing ministry for further scrutiny and approvals. The project’s subsequent steps involve the assessment by the Public Investment Board (PIB) and the final approval by the Union cabinet, paving the way for the commencement of construction work in Lucknow.
