Viral Video: This is from the Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh, where a tribal woman was seen performing the ‘Dandavat Parikrama’ through mud in a shocking protest viral video. In this act, the woman prostrated herself while traversing muddy streets, desperate enough to attract the attention of careless officials from the village who include the Sarpanch and secretary toward the pathetic condition of roads and drainage during rainy seasons.
A Desperate Cry for Help
She began the puja at her locality, Sukhakhar, and ended it at the Panwada Mata temple, where she bowed her head and prayed for wisdom to be bestowed upon the Sarpanch and secretary. She hoped that this act would nudge local authorities into swift action toward the development of basic infrastructure in the village. Despite numerous complaints, nothing had changed in the situation, and she was left with no alternative but to resort to this symbolic protest.
Mud, Mire, and Torn Rags
She walked through the muddy streets of the village so that she was literally covered from head to toe in filth, and her clothes consisted of mud. People could hardly believe what they were seeing-they stared at this woman as she continued her pilgrimage; hardly anyone knew what to make of her. She stated that it was her last attempt to bring public attention to the need for roads, drainage, and infrastructural facilities in her village since the earlier complaints had failed to bear fruit.
Exclusion from Government Schemes
Except poor infrastructural facilities, the complainant complains that the office bearers of the village have excluded her as well as other members of the same society from government schemes like a housing scheme as well as Ladli Bahna scheme. According to her, the secretary of the village Atar Singh does nothing except visiting the needs of the community. The toilets and housing facilities are not available in the Karahal panchayat in which she lives.
A Call to Action
She further threatens that unless immediate measures are taken by the district administration, women and other villagers will start crawling to the district collector’s office demanding that proper roads and even water pipelines so as to improve their state of living could be constructed. Her protest is a poignant reminder of the struggles the entire rural community has to face and go through to bring their plight into notice.
