Chhattisgarh witnessed the appointment of Vishnudev Sai as its new Chief Minister, who took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday. The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states. Vishnudev Sai, a former Union minister and tribal leader, emerged as the BJP’s choice for the top position in Chhattisgarh.

The ceremony drew a massive crowd of over 50 thousand people, and large LED screens were installed to allow more spectators to witness the historic moment. To ensure security, approximately 1000 police personnel were deployed for the event.

In the recent assembly elections, the BJP secured victory by winning 54 out of the total 90 assembly seats in the state. The Congress, which had won 68 seats in 2018, saw a significant reduction to 35 seats this time. The Gondwana Gantantra Party managed to secure one seat. Notably, the BJP had not announced a contender for the Chief Minister’s post during the election, leading to speculation about the new CM following their decisive victory on December 3.

Ultimately, Vishnudev Sai, hailing from the tribal community, was chosen by the BJP to lead Chhattisgarh as its new Chief Minister.
