Delhi Floods: The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said Water Treatment Plants in Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla are being closed due to the rising water level of Yamuna which can cause water problems in some areas of the national capital.

Water supply in Delhi

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet informed that Water Treatment Plants in several regions of Delhi are being closed amid the ongoing flood-like situation in the national capital caused by the rise in Yamuna water level.

“Due to the rising water level of River Yamuna, Water Treatment Plants in Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla are being closed. This would cause water problems in some areas of Delhi. As soon as the water level of the river decreases, we will try to restart these Plants again,” Kejriwal said in a tweet.

Speaking to ANI, Kejriwal also informed that three plants have been shut as the water has entered inside the pumps and machines. 25 per cent of water supply in Delhi will go down, he said. The water level will be at its peak by 3-4 PM today after which it will start to go down, the Delhi CM said.

“We are at the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant. For the first time in Delhi, Yamuna has touched this level. Three Water Treatment Plants have been shut down due to this as the water has entered pumps & machines…25% of the water supply in Delhi will go down due to this. The tubewells are closed too. There can be water scarcity for a day or two…I hope that the supply resumes by tomorrow evening,” he said.
