Suchana Seth: On Monday, January 9, Suchana Seth, the founder and CEO of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) company based in Bengaluru, was taken into custody for the murder of her four-year-old son. Seth was detained in Chitradurga, Karnataka, in 2020 while carrying her son’s remains in a suitcase. Seth started The Mindful AI Lab.

Alleged Motive for the Tragedy

Authorities claim that the 39-year-old woman carried out this horrible deed in order to keep her husband, who she had split up with, from seeing their child. Seth is the founder of an AI startup, a Physics master’s degree holder, and a former Sanskrit topper.

Data Scientist and AI Ethics Expertise

Suchana is a data scientist and expert in AI ethics with over 12 years of expertise, based on her LinkedIn profile. At startups and corporate research laboratories, she oversaw data science teams and scaled machine learning solutions.

Her listing as one of the “100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics List” is another highlight of her profile. It also lists her positions as a research fellow at the Raman Research Institute, a Mozilla Fellow at Data & Society, and a Fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Centre. Her patents in natural language processing are also held by her.

Educational Background

Suchana, the CEO and creator of The Mindful AI Lab, graduated with honours from the University of Calcutta with an M.Sc. in Physics. She is an expert in astrophysics and plasma physics. According to her LinkedIn profile, she also has a postgraduate diploma in Sanskrit and placed first in the course. She had previously graduated from Bhawanipur Education Society College in Kolkata with a B.Sc. in Physics (Honours).

Alleged Trip to Goa

The accused allegedly arranged a trip to Goa with her child to keep her estranged husband from seeing their son, according to the police. Before the intended meeting, in the hotel room in North Goa, she killed the child.

When hotel employees noticed that the mother had checked in with her son but had left the property alone, they became suspicious and the crime was discovered. After they dialled 112 for emergency services, the cops found her and took her into custody. The boy’s body was discovered by the police in the vehicle she was driving. The woman is being held in detention after being accused of murder.
