Union Minister Chirag Paswan has once again made headlines by reiterating his desire to step away from national politics and return to his home state of Bihar. Speaking at an event in Raipur, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader said his sole reason for entering politics was his commitment to Bihar and its people, and that his long-standing vision remains: “Bihar first, Bihari first.”
“Delhi Can’t Deliver Bihar’s Dreams”
Chirag Paswan, who recently became a Member of Parliament for the third time, admitted that he has come to believe that true transformation for Bihar cannot happen from Delhi.
“I have said this previously, and I’ll say it again — I don’t see myself in national politics for long. My focus has always been Bihar. I’ve told my party that I want to return soon,” Paswan said.
Possible Vidhan Sabha Entry? Party Yet to Decide
While Paswan expressed strong interest in contesting Bihar Vidhan Sabha elections, he clarified that the decision would ultimately depend on the party’s internal evaluation.
“My party is still evaluating whether it would be strategically beneficial for me to contest Assembly elections now. If my strike rate improves and our alliance performance strengthens — which is likely — I will definitely step in,” he said.
No Ambitions for CM Post, Says Paswan
Despite speculation around his political future, Chirag Paswan ruled out any immediate interest in the Chief Minister's post, stating clearly:
“There is no vacancy for the CM position. Nitish Kumar will become the CM again after the elections,” he said, suggesting that his return is about serving Bihar, not gunning for the top seat.
Political Signal or Strategic Move?
Paswan’s statements come at a time when Bihar's political landscape is witnessing rapid shifts. While he praised Nitish Kumar’s leadership indirectly by acknowledging his probable return as CM, Paswan’s own ambitions to return to state politics could shake up alliance dynamics and voter equations.
His remarks are likely to spark debate within both NDA and opposition camps, especially as Bihar gears up for another critical electoral season.
