As winter settles in and the school holiday season approaches, several states in India have officially announced the dates for winter vacations in schools and other educational institutions. Here’s a summary of the winter vacation schedules in different states:
- Delhi NCR:
In the national capital Delhi, the government has decided to reduce the winter vacation from 15 days to 6 days due to leave granted in November because of poor air quality. According to a circular issued by the Delhi Education Department, winter vacation for the academic session 2023-2024 will be observed from January 1, 2024 (Monday) to January 6, 2024 (Saturday). Schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram are also expected to close in the coming days. - Uttar Pradesh:
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has not made an official announcement about winter vacation dates yet. Following last year’s schedule, it is anticipated that the state may grant approximately 15 days of holidays to students from around December 31 to January 14. - Rajasthan:
The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has released the dates for winter vacation in the state. Schools will remain closed from December 25, as announced by the Rajasthan Board. - Jammu:
The Jammu Education Board Directorate has also released winter vacation dates. All government and private schools in the state will have holidays from December 11, 2023, to February 29, 2024. Students up to class 8 will have holidays from December 11 to February 29, while students from classes 9 to 12 will have holidays from December 18 to February 29.
As the winter season progresses, more states are expected to announce winter vacation schedules for students in the coming days.
