Delhi: Nikki Yadav was allegedly killed by her live-in partner, Sahil Gehlot, on February 10, and her body was stored in a fridge in a dhaba in Najafgarh. The victim’s father was not aware of his daughter’s relationship with the accused and only got to know about her murder when the Delhi Police contacted him. The victim had planned a trip to Goa on February 10 but cancelled it after finding out that Sahil was getting married to someone else. The accused allegedly used the data cable of his mobile in his car to strangle the woman.
Deception and Discovery: Misleading Nikki’s Father
Nikki’s father called Sahil on February 11 to know about her whereabouts, and Sahil misled him by telling him that Nikki had gone to Mussoorie and Dehradun with her friends and left her phone with him. Nikki’s father got a call from the police station the next day, where he was asked to identify a body, and that is how he found out that it was his daughter’s body. The victim’s father wants the court to hang Sahil till death and is requesting a death sentence for the accused. Nikki was doing English Honours from Galgotia University in Noida, and her father had never seen her in a disturbed state.
Recovery of Evidence: Recovery of Nikki’s Car
Late on Tuesday, the crime branch recovered a white Verna car in which Sahil allegedly strangled Nikki, and he was sent to five-day police custody on Wednesday. The victim’s family will be cremating her in her hometown in Haryana. According to the preliminary investigation, Sahil met Nikki at a coaching centre in Uttam Nagar area in 2018, and sometime later, they entered a relationship and started living together. The accused’s engagement and marriage were fixed for February 9 and 10, respectively, and his family was putting pressure on him to get married to someone else.

Sahil did not inform Nikki about his engagement or marriage plans, but she found out about it and confronted him, leading to an argument between the two. Sahil allegedly strangled Nikki with a data cable in his car, dumped her body, and later went back to his home to solemnize his marriage with another woman. The accused admitted to the crime during interrogation by the police. The incident highlights the need for people to be cautious about whom they are getting involved with and the importance of knowing their background before starting a relationship.
