All about the new TVs

Hisense debuted its first mini-LED model, the U8H series, last year. Due to its excellent performance for the price, this model ended up in our list of the top 4K TVs. Priced to start under $500 / £410 for a 50-inch model, the company will add mini-LED backlighting to its whole premium ULED (quantum dot) TV array for 2023. Each series will employ the Google TV smart interface, have mini-LED backlighting, and offer gaming-specific capabilities including up to 144Hz frame rate, VRR, ALLM, and FreeSync Premium Pro on all models save the entry-level U6K. All sets will also support Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ high dynamic range codecs, as well as the Wi-Fi 6E standard for quick streaming.

The complete Hisense series includes integrated ATSC 3.0 tuners, which may be of interest to US viewers. In 2023, we anticipate the release of additional TVs that can handle this next-generation TV broadcasting standard, which supports, among other things, 4K video with HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. But so far, only LG has confirmed that its flagship G3 4K and Z3 8K models will have built-in ATSC 3.0 tuning capability among the new TVs unveiled at CES 2023.

Hisense ULED X

The flagship TV from Hisense for 2023 is the ULED X. Its backlight is made up of more than 20,000 mini-LED modules and is only available in 85-inch screen size. Peak brightness is specified at 2,500 nits, and more than 5,000 local dimming zones and a 16-bit light management algorithm are utilised to improve contrast and shadow detail. A first for a Hisense set, the ULED X also offers an ultra-low reflection screen and a 30% wider viewing angle than conventional LED-backlit TVs.

With 4.1.2 channels and more than 80 watts of power used to drive the set’s seven speakers, the limited edition ULED X features the most sophisticated built-in audio system to be found in a Hisense TV.
