UIDAI issues a 12 digit Unique Aadhaar ID for every citizen of India, this includes your persona data such as your Biometric details, fingerprints, IRIS and photo, therefore it is very crucial to prevent you Aadhaar Card getting into wrong hands. Fraudsters using your Aadhaar card, can misuse your Biometric details.
You can also lock your biometrics to safe zone yourself from any fraud happenning with you. UIDAI enables this feature of Temporarily locking biometric to enhance the security of your Aadhaar Id, which eventually prevents any fraud event happenning with you.
Third way, is to use the photocopy of your Aadhaar Id for any work, instead of the original copy of your Aadhaar Id.
