ChatGPT: The emergence of generative AI has opened up new possibilities for problem-solving. OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, has garnered a lot of attention since its launch in November last year. It has proven to be useful in various areas, from assisting marketers to aiding students with research. Now, a programmer from Canada, Greg Isenberg, claims to have taken the help of ChatGPT to fight a multi-billion dollar client who refused to pay him.
Greg Isenberg’s Twitter Thread on AI Chatbot’s Role in Recovering Payment
According to Isenberg’s Twitter thread, in 2022, his design agency provided services to a popular brand, generating millions in revenue. However, the brand stopped communicating and refused to pay for services rendered, leaving the agency in a difficult situation. With no response from the brand, the agency’s finance and operations team was asked to intervene, but they were unable to resolve the issue.
Cost Comparison Between ChatGPT and a Lawyer
Isenberg then had a novel idea: what if ChatGPT could draft a more intimidating email to get the brand’s attention? He reasoned that a lawyer would charge $1000 to send a notice, whereas ChatGPT would cost nothing. He asked ChatGPT to draft a “scary collection mail” to recover the $109,500 owed by the brand. Isenberg’s prompt to ChatGPT was simple: “Pretend you work in the finance department and your job is to collect payments from clients. Draft a scary email that gets XYZ client to pay for $109,500 of services rendered but hasn’t responded to 5 emails. Their invoices are months overdue.”

Future Possibilities and Potential Limitations of AI Chatbots in Business
Isenberg claims that the email drafted by ChatGPT was effective, and the brand eventually paid the outstanding amount. The incident has sparked a debate about the potential uses of generative AI in various industries, including finance and law. Isenberg’s experience demonstrates how generative AI like ChatGPT can be useful in real-world situations, especially when dealing with unresponsive clients. It also highlights the need to explore the potential of AI in various industries to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
