Airtel: In practically every region of the nation, 5G has been installed by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. However, customers are unaware of the locations of 5G and 4G services. TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) will likely request that the telcos release a 4G and 5G coverage map for customers in order to address this problem. The Quality of Services (QoS) criteria are being improved by TRAI in April and May of 2024, according to an ET article. It is expected that the telecom regulator would request that the telecoms inform their customers about the locations of 5G and 4G services.
Airtel and Jio network coverage maps
Customers should be aware of the type of network coverage available in each area of the city. Therefore, the telecom providers will be held more accountable as a result of this TRAI directive, which will also improve customer transparency. Furthermore, the TRAI rule is probably going to require the telecoms to notify of any downtime of a site that impacts the local network.
Over 400,000 5G base terminals have been installed nationwide. The telcos, even if one goes down, will probably still need to report.
Call drop issue on the rise
Users are now frequently experiencing call dropouts as well. There are times when a user answers a call but is unable to hear the caller’s voice. This occurs in the event of a packet loss. As a result, the user is eventually compelled to end the call.
In order to increase customer satisfaction with mobile networks, TRAI seeks to ensure that call drop instances drop. Additionally, TRAI will determine if telcos should face fines each time they fail to provide the required minimum quality of service at the state or district level.
