Airtel: The CEO of Bharti Airtel, an Indian telecom giant, Gopal Vittal, emphasised the value of carrying an embedded SIM, or e-SIM, rather than a traditional one. He went over the many advantages that an e-SIM offers over physical SIMs, which are about to become obsolete, as well as how easy it is to use. Airtel’s MD, Gopal Vittal, advises users to switch to e-SIMs
A recent email from Vittal discussing the advantages of e-SIMs was sent out to Airtel users. He said that switching between devices is easy because e-SIMs offer seamless communication. The speaker also emphasised the potential for e-SIMs to impede thieves from removing the SIM, hence aiding in the tracking of stolen phones. Additionally, since e-SIMs cannot be physically removed from phones like standard SIMs can, it will be more difficult for thieves to get rid of them in the event that your device is stolen. Vittal said in an email to Airtel subscribers, “This will also make it easier to track a lost smartphone.”
Additionally, he said that any device that supports this technology can utilise Airtel’s e-SIMs. The Airtel Thanks app can be used to facilitate the procedure for anyone who would like to switch from physical SIM cards to e-SIM cards.
What are e-SIMs?
You no longer need to have access to your phone’s actual SIM card while using an e-SIM, which functions as an online extension of your normal physical SIM card. Some smartwatches and more recent smartphone models are now e-SIM enabled, guaranteeing users a seamless experience with connectivity.
Similar like SIM cards, except that these are integrated into your phone rather than being separate cards that you must insert. Although e-SIM phones facilitate seamless connectivity, transitioning to a new phone with one can present certain challenges.
