Amazon Invests $120 Million in Internet Satellite Facility, Details

Amazon: The Starlink satellite, operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, will now face competition from the American company Amazon. Amazon announced on Friday that it decided to invest US$120 million to construct a satellite manufacturing plant at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre.

Project Kuiper by Amazon

According to the business formed by American businessman Jeff Bezos, Project Kuiper would offer poor individuals and isolated communities around the world access to low-cost and cheap internet service. More than 3,200 satellites will be launched into Low Earth Orbit (LEO), according to the company’s detailed information.

The concept will be introduced on a wide scale by the following year, according to Steve Metair, vice president of production operations at Kuiper. Next year, Project Kuiper will debut in full production, and an early client pilot will get underway. He added that its units would be sent to Florida for last-minute preparations. The company’s satellite will be integrated with the rockets of Blue Origin United Launch Alliance (ULA), which Bezos created.

Competition

It is well-known that Elon Musk’s SpaceX launched the first wave of its more than 3,700 operational Starlink satellites in the year 2019. The world’s largest player in this industry is by far Starlink. But OneWeb is also consistently making progress in this area.
