Anup Mittal: In a recent development that has raised eyebrows in the tech and business communities, Google took the bold step of delisting the popular matchmaking app Shaadi.com, along with several others, from its Play Store. The reason cited by the tech giant was the non-compliance of these apps with Google’s billing policies. However, this move has sparked criticism, with Anup Mittal, a prominent figure in the Indian startup industry, speaking out against what he perceives as an overreach by Google.
Anup Mittal Criticises Google’s Move
Anup Mittal has openly criticized Google’s move to delist shaadi.com and several other apps from the Google Play Store. Criticizing the move, the prominent startup figure writes “Today is a dark day for India’s Internet. Google has delisted major apps from its app store even though legal hearings are underway. Mittal also mentions the Competition Commission of India and the Supreme Court of India in his post requesting the pioneers to take a positive initiative.
Is Mittal’s Critique Valid?
Anup Mittal presumably questioned the fairness and transparency of the internet giant’s procedures in order to criticize Google’s choice. According to Mittal, Google may enforce terms on developers due to its dominance in the app distribution business, which disadvantages smaller companies. In an effort to preserve the Indian startup environment, the well-known shark at Shark Tank India has also asked the Competition Commission of India to take the appropriate action.
