All about the Apple HomePod 2nd generation

Features

Thanks to built-in Siri support, HomePod can be operated using your voice. This feature should be familiar to many iPhone and iPad owners. With Siri, HomePod is always ready to help every family member and can recognise up to six voices to provide them with a personalised experience.

Moreover, HomePod has built-in temperature and humidity sensors. They will show the temperature and humidity in the room where they are installed.

Because of the enhanced S7 chipset, she will respond quickly to any questions you may have. Of course, there is a tonne of other things you can do, too, including access to smart home devices, managing music playback on Apple Music, and playing a podcast or radio station using TuneIn. Moreover, a built-in intercom feature enables direct communications between a HomePod or HomePod mini on the same network.

Ambient Sound Recognition for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will notify you of a potential emergency and send a notification to your iPhone in a future update.

Design

The 168mm tall by 142mm wide HomePod is home to a 4-inch high-excursion woofer and an Apple array of five horn-loaded tweeters, each with a separate neodymium magnet. You can choose between white or midnight black for the soft fabric mesh that uniformly covers the cylindrical speaker.

A removable power cord that matches the speaker’s colour and fabric design is located further down on the side of the base, which features a rubber material to prevent the speaker from slipping.

Although the touch area at the top has colourful lights, it isn’t a display per se. In addition to touch gestures for playback, it offers ‘+’ and ‘-‘ for volume controls. Siri is accessible with a touch and hold.

Price in India

The Apple Homepod 2nd gen is available in the Indian market for Rs 32900.
