Apple iPhone 15: I have been an iPhone user for more than two years now. My first iPhone was an iPhone 11, which I got back in 2021. I did feel that it was a bit outdated, as one month after I got my phone, the iPhone 13 was launched. However, I was happy with the phone, as it did compete with the Android flagships back then. To get back into the flagship group, I wanted to get the iPhone 14 last year, but when it launched, I was a bit disappointed as it was not very different from the iPhone 13 in any way. I dropped my plan to switch my phone back then and had high hopes for the iPhone 15.
Ever since last year, there have been several rumours that have been circulating on the internet, and as a tech journalist, I have been covering all of them. These rumours made me very excited about the upcoming series, and then finally, the day came when Apple announced the Wonderlust event. I covered the event live, and as soon as Apple announced the iPhone 15 series, I was in love with it. I loved the new design and the matte finish provided on the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. The base models finally had the Dynamic Island that I had been in love with ever since it debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro models. As soon as the new series launched on September 22, I wanted to get my hands on one.
The Day I got my Apple iPhone 15
Ever since the iPhone 15 launched, all I saw on the internet were long lines of people waiting in front of stores to buy one. I had no intention of doing that. Living in Lucknow, I anticipated that I could get one whenever I wanted to, but after calling a few major retailers, I got to know that there were limited stocks and everyone was getting the black colour I wanted as well. Finally, after calling a few retailers, I got to know that there was one piece left at one shop. I got to the shop and was lucky enough to get my hands on one.
Unboxing and first impression
I got the iPhone 15 128GB Black, The phone looked amazing as soon as I opened the box. I knew that it was a major upgrade from the iPhone 11 that I had been using for the last two years. As soon as I picked it up, the phone had a premium feel to it. The curved edges paired with the flat sides gave the phone a much better grip of the phone as compared to the flat edges with flat sides on the iPhone 12, 13, and 14. Compared to the iPhone 11, the new phone felt lighter as well as a bit smaller.
Setting it up
When I shifted from Android to iPhone more than two years ago, I lost a lot of data while transferring it, as there was some issue with the connection. I was scared this time as I had more than 70GB of data on my iPhone 11, which I had to transfer to my new iPhone 15. Luckily, there was an official Apple promoter present at the store who helped me with the process. As soon as the iPhone 15 was switched on, I got a pop-up on my older phone to set up my new device. The process did take about 30–40 minutes, but I did not lose a single photo. The transfer process was seamless and just amazing. I did not even have to connect my Apple Watch again as it automatically shifted to the new device. All of my accounts were already logged in, and even the wallpaper was the same.
Apple iPhone 15 Display and Design
As soon as I got home and started fiddling with the new iPhone 15 I just got I instantly knew that the display was a major upgrade from the iPhone 11’s LCD. The Super Retina XDR OLED with HDR10 just looked amazing when compared to the LCD display on the iPhone 11. The display had thin bezels, and the colours produced were significantly better.
I believe the best part of the display is the Dynamic Island. Apple used a hurdle as an opportunity and changed the whole experience. The way the software integrates the Dynamic Island into the user experience is just amazing. Multiple apps such as Uber, YouTube Music, and Maps show notifications by extending the Dynamic Island, and it looks great and does not hinder me while I use the phone to do other stuff.
When it came to the design, the colour had me in love. The matte finish, paired with the black colour, looked just amazing. The camera module as well as the individual lenses were much bigger The curved edges gave the phone a much better feel. I did notice many oil smudges and fingerprints while using the phone without a cover, but they went away with a wipe.
Camera
I have not used the camera a lot since I got the phone, but I did test it out under several circumstances. The 48MP primary camera is just out of this world. The clarity, the vividness, the post-processing—everything is just amazing. The best part is that now I can zoom to 2X without losing any clarity or details.
The front camera is good as well, but I hardly ever use it. So I did not notice a major difference.

iPhone 15 Verdict
I am very happy with the new iPhone 15. It was a major upgrade from the iPhone 11 in every aspect. May it be the display, design, camera, sound quality, or user experience, the phone is just out of this world. Someone upgrading from an iPhone 11 or X will feel a huge difference, but people who switch from an iPhone 12, 13, or 14 may not feel a major difference other than the Dynamic Island course.
