Apple iPhone 15 Pro: Earlier this month, Apple unveiled its newest smartphone lineup, the iPhone 15. There are four phones in the lineup: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The A16 Bionic chipset, which was also used in the less costly iPhone 14 Pro models from the previous year, is found in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. The newest A17 Pro chipsets, based on TSMC’s 3nm architecture, are used in the iPhone 15 Pro models. Overheating problems with the Pro variants have been noted by certain users.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro overheating issue
The iPhone 15 Pro is reportedly capable of heating up to the point where first-degree burns can occur, according to reports. Some users have resorted to putting themselves in a protective case to protect themselves from the intense heat the device emits. The TSMC-produced A17 Pro chip was first suspected of being the cause of the temperature spikes. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, though, holds a different opinion.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated on Tuesday that the problems aren’t caused by the 3nm A17 Pro processor, but rather by “compromises made in the thermal system.”
According to the expert, Apple changed the thermal design of both devices this year by using a titanium frame and reducing the heat dissipation space, which is believed to be the cause of the overheating problems allegedly affecting the new iPhone models.
How will Apple solve this issue?
Kuo predicts that Apple will fix this issue with software updates. These updates might not, however, be sufficient to fully fix the overheating problem. The A17 Pro, despite being a 3nm chip and being slightly quicker than the A16 Bionic, may need to perform marginally less in order to achieve significant improvements.
