Apple iPhone 17 Series: Unlike mid-range Android smartphones which usually offer 120 Hz displays, Apple doesn’t offer high refresh rate displays in many of its flagship devices which costs much more than Android devices with 120 Hz displays. Even the latest iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus come with features display with a 60 Hz refresh rate. This can dishearten any customers who are investing a decent amount of money in an iPhone to get the best features and accessibility.
However, according to a report Apple is planning to make 120 Hz displays a standard feature across all models by the next year.
120 Hz Displays With iPhone 17 Series
A report by The Elic, a Korean publication mentions that Apple is in plans to make 120 Hz ProMotion displays a standard offering in all the models. But this will only happen in the iPhone 17 Series. It means the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will get an ordinary 60 Hz display.
Apple’s ProMotion Display Still a Premium Offering
Apple introduced ProMotion displays on iPads and then on the iPhone. The ProMotion displays feature an LTPO OLED panel which runs smoother than the ordinary displays in the non-pro models. A ProMotion can reach to a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and a minimum of 1 Hz according to the usage. ProMotion displays come with features that enable enhanced battery life and offer an Always-On-Display functionality too which looks quite good.
