Apple Pay in India
Apple is developing a localised version of Apple Pay, especially for the South Asian market. This version would be compatible with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a well-liked payment system in the area run by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Apple wants to make it possible for iPhone users in India to start UPI transactions by scanning QR codes, doing away with the requirement for third-party payment apps.
Apple Credit Card
To introduce its credit card, called “Apple Card,” in India, iPhone manufacturer Apple is in discussions with banks and authorities. During his visit to India in April, Tim Cook, the company’s CEO, met with Sashidhar Jagdishan, the CEO and MD of HDFC Bank, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.
The details of the card were the topic of Apple’s conversations with RBI. The Cupertino-based tech giant has been tasked by RBI with adhering to the required steps for the launch of co-branded credit cards in India. The regulatory body has rejected the company’s request for any preferential treatment. It is something that may determine whether Apple actually launches its credit card in India or not.
