Apple: Although there has been discussion about a foldable iPhone for years, Apple has not yet produced their first foldable device, and the only images we have seen of it are sketches found in patents. That could soon change, though, as the most recent leak indicates that the 2026 release date for this foldable device is possible.
Apple’s foldable iPhone rumours
The device is anticipated to have an internal display that is roughly 7-8 inches in size, which might place it in Apple’s lineup as the iPad mini’s replacement. The device’s precise features and specifications are still being worked out, despite the hype.
It’s also important to keep in mind that Apple is allegedly testing a next-generation iPad mini with an OLED display, which raises the issue of what will happen to the device if a foldable model is truly in the works.
Apple likely to use Samsung displays
Since last year, Samsung Display and LG Display have allegedly been providing Apple with 7- and 8-inch screen samples. Given Samsung Display’s familiarity with producing screens for the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip lines, it is most likely Samsung Display that is the main provider of displays.
We wouldn’t rule out Apple delivering a foldable device in 2026 or 2027, but we also wouldn’t claim on it either given the sound of the information being quite preliminary and open to change.
