Apple: According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple intends to begin building the iPhone 17 in India. As per his Medium article, the new product introduction (NPI) for the regular iPhone 17 is anticipated to commence in India in 2024, marking the initial instance where Apple initiates the development of a new iPhone model outside China. According to Kuo, the regular iPhone model was selected because of its less complicated design development, which lowers the risk.
Apple to develop iPhone 17 in India
If all goes as planned, the NPI is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2024, with a release date of 2025. Furthermore, Apple hopes to work with Foxconn to increase iPhone production in India. Presently, 12–14% of all iPhone shipments worldwide are produced there. Apple hopes to raise this percentage to 20–25% by 2024.
It is also anticipated that Foxconn, which has the largest capacity for producing iPhones in India, will reduce output in its Chinese facilities in Zhengzhou and Taiyuan by 45% and 85%, respectively, by the end of 2009.
Kuo claims that in order to support future iPhone sales in India and to ensure Apple’s expansion over the next ten years, the company is seeking to fortify its ties with the Indian government.
iPhone 15 is being made in India
Apple began manufacturing the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in India earlier this year. This facilitated the American tech giant’s ability to market the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which were produced in India, on the same day of their release. Since the older models account for the bulk of Apple’s sales in India, the company has also started producing the iPhone 13, 14, and 14 Plus models here.
