Apple’s iPhone 16 Series Launched: With the much awaited release of the iPhone 16 series, which includes four new models—the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max—Apple concluded its 2024 event, “It’s Glowtime.” Updated Apple Watch and AirPods versions, all at more affordable prices for Indian consumers, were on display during the event, along with notable advances in AI.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: Sleek Design and Enhanced Performance
Redesigned with a pill-shaped camera island, the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus boast familiar aesthetics. With Dynamic Island integration, the smartphones have screens of 6.1 and 6.7 inches. Two significant additions are a Camera Control button for more fluid photographic controls and an Action Button to replace the conventional Ring/Silent switch. The design changes notwithstanding, the rear camera configuration stays the same: a 12MP selfie camera, a 48MP primary, and a 12MP ultrawide.
The iPhone 16 series is powered by the A18 chip, enabling smoother graphics and the ability to play AAA games. Available in black, white, green, blue, and pink, the iPhone 16 starts at ₹79,900, while the iPhone 16 Plus is priced at ₹89,900.
iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: Bigger Displays and New Camera Sensors
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have larger screens—6.3 inches and 6.9 inches—thanks to slimmer bezels. Powered by the A18 Pro chip, these models come with new AI features and upgraded camera sensors, including a 48MP ultrawide and 5x telephoto zoom.
In a new “desert titanium” shade, alongside black, white, and natural titanium, the iPhone 16 Pro is priced at ₹1,19,900, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at ₹1,44,900, both significantly cheaper in India than previous models.
Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence, which is expected to completely change the way iPhones function, is one of the notable innovations unveiled at the event. Apple Intelligence is anticipated to roll out in October 2024, despite not debuting alongside iOS 18 right away. With its sophisticated machine learning capabilities built into the iPhone’s operation, as well as its intelligent app interactions, photo editing, and real-time predictive text, this new AI-driven technology promises to improve user experience. With faster speed and more seamless operations, the A18 and A18 Pro processors are built to fully utilise these AI features.
iOS 18 Launching Soon
iOS 18 will be available from September 16, though the much-anticipated Apple Intelligence features will be released later in October.
New Apple Watch and AirPods Lineup
Apple also launched the Apple Watch Series 10 with a larger display and a fresh design, along with an updated Apple Watch SE. The new AirPods lineup includes two versions, with the AirPods Max now featuring a USB-C port.
