Siri: Apple is apparently preparing to release an improved Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), part of the company’s ongoing evolution in the digital sector. Based on rumours circulating, the new Siri has generative AI in addition to a number of other cutting-edge features. Read on to know more.
Apple’s Siri rumoured to get a major AI upgrade
Though Apple is said to have spent $1 billion integrating AI into Siri, the company has not, at least not publicly, disclosed any tools comparable to ChatGPT’s artificial intelligence capabilities. If accurate, Apple reportedly made this investment at a time when the AI market was booming and when Siri had been difficult for the company to enhance generally.
As per leaker yeux1122’s blog, there has been “recent progress on applying generative AI to Apple Siri.”
What should we expect?
According to reports, the most recent developments include the incorporation of AI into the current iteration of Siri, which makes use of Apple’s Ajax-based paradigm. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg initially made reference to this technology in July. According to the rumour, this updated Siri is expected to offer more user personalisation and more organic conversation interactions.
Cross-device functionality is what makes this next Siri unique. It is projected to maintain conversational data across different Apple devices with ease, resulting in a more unified user experience. Furthermore, rumours of a new “Apple-specific creational service” have arisen in relation to Apple’s new features, which may be connected to the previously reported Siri-based Shortcuts features expected for iOS 18.
Apple is allegedly working on allowing the new Siri features to link with external services, most likely through an API, in an effort to increase its capabilities.
Although there are few details, there are indications that the status of a subscription service may have an impact on Apple’s AI capabilities. However, it is still unclear how exactly this influence works.
