CES 2023: Motorola launches ThinkPhone with Moto Thread Defense features, all you need to know

CES 2023: It can be argued that the ThinkPad series of laptops from Lenovo is the most widely used model for professional use. Its design has changed a lot over the years. Now, you can get it in both a foldable and a traditional laptop style. But its sturdy design and boxy shape are still part of the ThinkPad look. On top of that, Lenovo made the ThinkPhone by Motorola, which has a unique look and a number of privacy and work-related features. Here’s everything you need to know about the ThinkPhone by Motorola from Lenovo, which was released at CES 2023.

Specs and Features of the Motorola ThinkPhone

The back of the Motorola ThinkPhone is made of aramid fibre, the front is made of Gorilla Glass Victus, and the frame is made of aircraft-grade aluminium. It looks and feels very much like a ThinkPad laptop. The phone is also rated IP68, which means it is resistant to dust and water. It also has a MIL-STD 810H certification, which means that the phone has passed a number of tough tests.

Other than that, the Motorola ThinkPhone has a 6.6-inch 144Hz FHD+ pOLED screen. Lenovo chose the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage to power the device. It also has a 5000mAh battery that can be charged quickly with up to 68W or wirelessly with up to 15W.

It has a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a depth sensor for the camera system. The phone has a 32MP camera for taking selfies. It can connect to other devices using sub-6GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

File Drop to share files between two devices

In addition to having good hardware, the Motorola ThinkPhone has a lot of software features that can help you get more done. With Instant Connect, you can quickly connect your phone and PC. Then there is support for Unified Clipboard and Notifications, which makes it easy for your PC and ThinkPhone to work together. And you can use File Drop to share files between two devices. Not only that, but you can use Android apps on your PC by opening them right from your ThinkPhone.

Lastly, you can use the camera on your ThinkPhone as a webcam on your PC. If your PC’s internet isn’t working, you can use the hotspot on your phone to get your work done. Lenovo and Microsoft have also worked together to make a Walkie-Talkie app that uses Microsoft Teams for instant messaging. To send a message, all you have to do on ThinkPhone is press the red key. It also comes with the mobile apps for Microsoft 365, Outlook, and Teams.

Moto Thread Defence to keep the phone safe

When it comes to security and privacy for enterprise users, Lenovo uses the hardware attestation feature of its ThinkShield security platform to protect user privacy. Lenovo is also using an AI-based security system called Moto Thread Defence to keep the phone safe. As for deployment, it supports Zero Touch management, and administrators can control all the security and privacy features remotely. The good thing is that the Motorola ThinkPhone has a separate Moto KeySafe processor that stores sensitive information like PINs, passwords, cryptographic keys, etc. in an environment that can’t be changed.

Availability of Motorola ThinkPhone

At CES 2023, Lenovo unveiled the ThinkPhone by Motorola and said it would soon be available in the United States, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Australia, and some select countries in Asia. Lenovo hasn’t said anything yet about how much the ThinkPhone will cost.
