China: China has issued a directive prohibiting government officials from using or bringing Apple iPhones or other foreign-branded devices to work. The Wall Street Journal reported this, citing persons familiar with the situation. This is the latest attempt by Xi Jinping’s rule to allegedly prevent the flow of sensitive information outside of China’s borders. The orders were sent by supervisors to their employees in recent weeks, and it is unclear how extensively the orders were actively spread.
Apart from Apple, there were no other names on the list of prohibited foreign smartphone manufacturers.
