Google Play Store: Recently, the search giant Google has suffered a massive defeat in the Antitrust lawsuit filed by Epic Games. The case was filed against the alleged wrong business practice adopted by Google to maintain its dominance in the Android mobile app market. In the lawsuit, Google was accused of creating its monopoly in the Android app market. In a settlement, the tech giant has agreed to pay around USD 700 Million payout of which the major USD 630 Million part belongs to the users.
Why Google is Paying USD 630 Million to Users?
According to a report, the tech giant will pay USD 630 Million to the consumers to compensate for the higher prices it charged for its alleged monopoly. Reports also suggest that around 102 million people will get their deserving part from this monetary value.
Who is Eligible to Get Settlement Money?
- Google users who had their legal address in the US in your Google Payment profile.
- You must have made in-app purchases or app purchases on the Google Play Store app date between August 16, 2016, to September 30, 2023.
- The settlement can be received by anyone in the 50 US States,
How Will Users Receive Money?
It is said that around 70 per cent of eligible Google Play Store users will get automatic payments and they will not need to file any claim to get their portion. Before this, Google will send them an email that will notify them they are eligible to get the settlement money.
In case, any user falling under the category doesn’t get their payment and they didn’t receive any notification from Google. They will be able to file a claim through a settlement website which is not yet live on the World Wide Web.
