The draft of the Digital India Bill is being worked on by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It will take the place of the current Information Technology Act, which was passed more than 22 years ago at the dawn of the Internet. A source claims that “there may be a provision for a fine of up to Rs 500 crore on units for violation of the provisions of the Digital India Bill.”
He claimed that the planned Digital India Authority will decide how much the fine would be. The complaints will need to be resolved by the authority itself. According to sources, rules to regulate the creation and application of developing technologies are expected to be included in the law in light of the difficulties associated with the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
