Elon Musk imposes restrictions on Twitter’s Threads search? What you need to know

Elon Musk imposes restrictions on Twitter's Threads search? All we know

Elon Musk: While the platform presently only links to Threads material, users of Meta’s Twitter rival Threads have discovered that Elon Musk has started limiting search results when trying to find links to threads on the microblogging platform Twitter. Users complained on threads that even when threads permit the posting of URLs, Twitter is selectively preventing searches for tweets that link to them.

Has Elon Musk imposed alleged restrictions?

For those who are unaware, Twitter users can search for links that are associated with a given URL, in this example Threads, by using the ‘URL:’ search operator. Every tweet that connects to the website, regardless of whether it has been compressed, will appear in the search results if you type in “url:indianexpress.com”.

Twitter will display results even if you search for “threads.net” without the operator, including profiles of people who have a Threads link in their bio or those talking about the just created platform, but you won’t be able to see any links to Threads.

The behaviour is reportedly being extensively reported by Twitter users as well, The Verge’s report states. A problem was found when using search operators to find links to specific URLs. Despite there being several tweets about the site, a search on Twitter for the URL threads.net returns nothing.
