Meta Platforms takes action against eight companies

These businesses used malware to target Windows, iOS, and Android devices, according to the company’s Adversarial Threat Report for the fourth quarter of 2023.

Spyware used by these companies might do a lot of different things, like gathering data about the device and accessing contacts, calendars, emails, SMS, social media, messaging applications, microphones, cameras, and screenshot functions. To reduce its operations and safeguard its consumers, Meta Platforms took action.

Companies in question

Cy4Gate/ELT Group, RCS Labs, IPS Intelligence, Variston IT, TrueL IT, Protect Electronic Systems, Negg Group, and Mollitiam Industries are the eight companies that Meta Platforms has recognised. In addition to using spyware, these businesses also participated in social engineering, phishing, scraping, and other activities on a variety of platforms, including GitHub, Reddit, Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X (previously Twitter), YouTube, Skype, and many more.

To safeguard its users and stop the misuse of commercial spyware for violations of human rights, Meta Platforms strives to be proactive and watchful. It is nevertheless imperative that governments and tech businesses collaborate to reduce these risks as the landscape of monitoring techniques changes.
